“Strengthening the Role of Women Ulama in Creating a Just Civilization" (Progress Report, 14 October 2024 – 30 June 2026) highlights the collective efforts of AMAN Indonesia, Alimat, Fahmina, Gusdurian, Rahima, and the Kongres Ulama Perempuan Indonesia (KUPI) ecosystem in strengthening the authority, leadership, and influence of women ulama in advancing gender justice and social transformation. Developed through a collaborative movement-building process led by AMAN Indonesia, the report demonstrates how women ulama are expanding their roles across pesantren, universities, community forums, civil society networks, and global spaces. The document underscores interconnected challenges—from sexual and gender-based violence and persistent gender inequality to shrinking civic space, ecological crises, humanitarian emergencies, and the misuse of religious interpretations to justify discrimination—while positioning gender-just Islamic knowledge and women’s religious leadership as transformative forces for building a more just and dignified civilization.
