JOINT STATEMENT SOUTHEAST ASIA CIVIL SOCIETY FORUM ON WOMEN, PEACE AND SECURITY

Comprehensive joint statement formulated by 54 representatives of civil society organizations, women peacebuilders, journalists, and human rights defenders across eight Southeast Asian nations. Across its 18 pages, the document presents a grounded evaluation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda in the region. While acknowledging formal milestones such as National Action Plans in the Philippines, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, it highlights a persistent gap between institutional adoption and real-world impact, noting that women's participation often fails to grant them true decision-making power
