Recommendation of Expert Group Meeting on Asserting Peaceful Multicultural Society in Asia: Responding to The Crisis in Myanmar and Srilanka

“Recommendations of the Expert Group Meeting on Asserting a Peaceful Multicultural Society in Asia: Responding to the Crisis in Myanmar and Sri Lanka” highlights the collective commitments of experts, civil society actors, government representatives, and academics across Asia to address protracted conflicts through a peaceful multicultural framework. Developed from an Expert Group Meeting held in Bangkok on 22–23 October 2018, the document underscores urgent regional concerns—from the Rohingya crisis and unresolved post-conflict challenges in Sri Lanka to gender-based violence, religious extremism, and gaps in humanitarian response. It stands as a strategic call for strengthened regional cooperation, survivor-centered advocacy, gender-responsive policymaking, and evidence-based collaboration to advance justice, inclusion, and sustainable peace in Asia.
